Registering a Hybrid Team

A hybrid team includes competitors from more than one school. For example, your school may enter one of its competitors with a partner from another college.

Hybrid teams are only available when the tournament director has enabled them for that tournament and the event allows more than one competitor.

Register the entry

First, make sure the primary competitor is active on your school's competitor roster. The primary competitor must belong to the school creating the entry.

Open the tournament registration page and select Register Competitors. Choose your primary competitor and the multi-person event.

In the partner field, begin typing the outside competitor's name. Search results show both the competitor and school. Select the correct competitor, then save the registration.

The system marks the entry as Hybrid and records every school represented by its competitors. You should not create a duplicate competitor on your own roster for the outside-school partner.

Who manages the entry?

The school that creates the hybrid entry owns it. The owning school can edit the roster or event, drop the entry, pay the fees, and is responsible for entry limits and wait-list placement.

Coaches at the partner's school can see the entry as read-only on their registration page, but they cannot edit, drop, or pay for it. Their tournament contacts receive an email when the hybrid entry is created, changed, or dropped.

Pairing, sectioning, and judge conflicts

The tournament director decides whether a hybrid entry may compete against entries from one of its associated schools. Contact the tournament director for more information.

Sweepstakes credit

The tournament director also chooses how hybrid team sweepstakes credit is handled. All credit may go to the owning school, the credit may be divided equally among the represented schools, or the hybrid entry may receive no team credit. Contact the tournament director for more information on how team sweepstakes is allocated.

Hybrid team policy does not change individual sweepstakes credit.
