Phonetic Spelling Competitor Names
Coaches can enter a phonetic spelling of their competitor names to assist tournament directors and judges on the correct pronunciation of names. This should help make our community more welcoming and inviting. Thanks to the student who emailed me requesting this feature and explaining how having her name mispronounced on each ballot and at awards was discouraging her participation in the activity.
1. Competitor Roster
Go to your School's competitor roster page

2. Add New Competitor
When you add a new competitor to your school's roster, you can add the phonetic spelling.
If you click preview, an ai generated sound file will be created that will be used throughout the site on eBallots and for tournament staff to listen to. You can edit the phonetic spelling to get the audio file as close as possible to the competitor's name.

You can also add phonetic spelling to your existing competitors and add the phonetic spelling of their name. Click on their name in the competitor roster, add the phonetic spelling, preview it, and click update.

When judges load their eBallots, if a phonetic spelling has been saved, they can click on the small speaker icon to hear the audio file.
